Godshill Parish Council have submitted a planning application for the demolition of the existing dilapidated pavilion building, its replacement by a community centre, the upgrade and extension of the existing access road, the creation of a car park and the creation of an extensive play area with play equipment.
Whilst there appears to be much support for this project in the village, there is also a certain amount of opposition. At this moment in time, on the Isle of Wight council planning website there are no comments in favour, one comment against and a recommendation for refusal from Island Roads (CLICK HERE to read it). You have until FRIDAY 20 DECEMBER to submit your comments for or against the proposal online.
CLICK HERE to go to the application. You click on Login, or, if you do not have one, click on Register in order to be able to add your comments.
You are also more than welcome to share your thoughts in favour of or against this application in the comments below.
All comments supporting or against this planning application must be received by the IoW Council no later than TODAY – Friday 20 December 2019.
Godshill needs a sense of community, a place to meet, a place for adults and children alike to meet and enjoy each other’s company. The playground, particularly being accessible is a fantastic idea and a brilliant way forward to building the community spirit
As long as the local regular dog walkers are still allowed to meet and walk there dogs I don’t see it being a problem.
I live in godshill with young children and we would benefit from this facility and use it often. I can only see that this area will have a positive effect on the local community.
At the Parish Council meeting on Monday 6 January, the Parish Clerk stated that he had had a phone conversation with the IoW Planning Department and had been told that they did not expect to be in a position to make a decision for about a month.
In an e-mail dated 27 April 2020 and confirmed by the Isle of Wight Council in a letter of the same date, it was stated that this planning application has been withdrawn. No other details are currently available.
