A haul of treasure including a Medieval gold ring and Bronze Age bracelet has been unearthed by Isle of Wight detectorists.
Four treasure inquests were held at the Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court yesterday (Thursday) following the finds over the past year.
The 15th century ring — inscribed with an image of St Margaret spearing a dragon and the phrase ‘graciously accept’ — was discovered at Godshill. British Museum expert Frank Basford said such rings were a popular choice for betrothal or wedding gifts.
