Establishments in Godshill have achieved a near perfect set of ratings according to the Food Standards Agency.
All those in Godshill, unfortunately with one exception, who currently either serve or sell food achieve one of the top two ratings of good (4) or very good (5).
Godshill Primary School was inspected on 28 March this year and achieved top marks with a very good (5) rating.
The current ‘black sheep’ according to the agency is the Griffin who, on 26 January 2017, only achieved a lower middle rating of 2 indicating that improvement was necessary. Let’s hope it is not too long before the agency can return to the Griffin because, with some rave reviews on the food side, as indicated on Trip Advisor, they certainly appear to have addressed their previous shortcomings.

Council Consider Charging Hundreds For Re-Rating Food Hygiene Standards
The Isle of Wight Council is considering charging hundreds of pounds to re-inspect restaurants and takeaways. If approved, the proposed charge will be £205 for any food-related business wanting to improve the rating they have been issued in the last inspection before the next visit is due.
