The telephone box on School Road looks set to be removed by BT along with 15 others from locations across the Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight council officials have approached town and parish councils to carry out a consultation to seek the views of their local communities, which will inform a decision on whether to argue the proposed removals or to agree with the plan of action.
The Godshill telephone box is the least used amongst those set to be removed, having been used to make only 2 calls in the last 12 months.
