Following the clearing of footpath GL57 at its southerly end last week, the Isle of Wight Council Public Rights of Way Team have now decided that adjacent trees which lean precariously over the footpath are in danger of falling.
The south-west fork in GL57 that goes up the slope to the wooden boardwalk and steps to bridleway GL56 is therefore currently closed.
However, there is a south-east fork to GL57 which can still be used and as such, there is a simple detour.
The footpath has now re-opened (although GL57 through Tottle Bottom Valley is very wet and muddy).
